Protein Plus+
Equifeed Protein Plus is a rich source of human grade protein, which assists in building body mass and muscle. Protein Plus’s secret is that it is a soy product that has not been heat-treated; this maintains it’s full nutritional value. This results in Protein Plus containing over 40% crude protein. Protein Plus also contains eight amino acids, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lycine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan and Valine, all being essential for the growth and maintenance of a healthy horse.
Horses genetic makeup is predominately muscle and tissue, so there is a constant need to keep protein intake high. Because of Protein Plus’s high concentration in crude protein, there is no need to overfeed the horse. In most cases 3/4 cup of Protein Plus per day is sufficient to have significant results.
Protein Plus is easily digestible and only needs to be added to their current hard feed. Being a very palatable powder it will suit even the fussiest of eaters. Protein Plus is a “cool” supplement and therefore will not change a horse’s temperament by adding excess energy.
Horses that will benefit from the use of Protein Plus:
Sick, underweight, elderly or poor horses
These horses, for various reasons, are experiencing muscle wastage. As muscle is predominately comprised of protein, Protein Plus is a vital ingredient in any horses recovery or weight gain. Horses taking Protein Plus have typically shown a marked improvement in appearance. A healthy shiny coat, and thick mane and tail are regular signs of overall improved health.
Competitive or working horses
Everyone wants that edge in performance and Protein Plus will provide this by improving the horses muscle bulk and tone, resulting in improved speed, strength and endurance. Protein Plus will also provide excellent recovery in horses after competition or training, due to it’s ability to repair and rebuild muscle during times of stress. Because of Protein Plus’s muscle building qualities it will also stop muscle wastage during periods of rest.
Lactating mares or mares in foal
The benefits in this category are two fold. In the mare, Protein Plus will enable her to maintain better health during a period of change and stress in her body. By maintaining high protein levels, the mare is in a better position to pass these benefits onto her foal.
Foals, weanlings or young horses
The requirements for protein are greatest during periods of growth. Newborn foals require around 20% crude protein in their diet for healthy development. This requirement marginally drops to 16% at three years plus. Giving a young horse Protein Plus will provide it with the best start in life by maximising growth and physical potential.
Injured or recovering horses
Any horse that has suffered a muscular injury will require extra protein to rebuild. This is an opportune time to enhance the horse’s recovery with the use of Protein Plus. This will also aid in the recovery process from cuts and abrasions and restore a healthy skin and coat.
Serving stallions
A stallion’s body is placed under extreme stress during the serving season. His body must continue to replenish it’s stock of protein so he can continue to produce healthy semen and ultimately a healthy foal.
